Expectation
of Members
At Mission, we believe that
we exist to make disciples. We further believe that church
membership should be synonymous with being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
To that end, we ask the following four commitments of new members:
-
You
are asked to be involved in Bible Study on Sunday mornings.
It is hard to be on a team without ever being in a huddle.
Sunday School is our huddle. It is a place where we learn
the Bible, fellowship, care for one another, and reach out to
the community. This does not take place of worship.
Your involvement in worship is assumed.
-
You
are asked to agree to give. We do not tell you the amount
or even the percentage to give. But we do ask you to give
regularly, proportionately, and sacrificially. Regularly
means weekly, monthly, or whatever is right for you. Proportionately
means that if God has blessed you a lot, give a lot. If
God has blessed you a little, give a little. If God has
not blessed you any financially, then don't give financially.
-
You
are asked to find a place in ministry. We believe that
we are saved to serve. We believe that all members/disciples
have a calling to a specific ministry. We will help you
discover your gifts for ministry and a place to use those gifts.
-
To
have a least three names of people you know who are unchurched
and that you are seeking to share your faith, you are praying
for their salvation, and you are inviting them to church.
