Preschool
& Children Policies & Procedures These policies apply to all children from birth through Grade 6, their parents, teachers, leaders, caregivers, and volunteer workers during any church function at Mission Baptist Church. Parents/Guardians1.
A minimum number of adults, preferably only one parent/guardian, should
leave and pick up children in the children’s’ areas. This lessens congestion and increases security in the
hallways. 2.
Parents/guardians should leave and receive children at the classroom door
to maintain a cleaner room environment and increase security in the classroom. 3.
Workers in our Worship Care ministry must have their children older than 4
yrs. sit with another adult during the worship service.
See a TEAM member if there is a problem adhering to the policy. 4.
Worship Care is for children, birth – Age 3. Children in the Age 3 SS class may continue in Worship Care
until they are promoted in August to the PreK Sunday School class. 5.
No child is to be released from a classroom to anyone except a
parent/guardian. The
parent/guardian must have the approved security card used in Nursery through Age
3 classes. An approved security
card should be used at all times. This
is mandatory. 6.
All items brought to the preschool area are to be clearly labeled with the
child’s name. This includes
diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, outer clothing, sipper cups, etc.
Bottles and cups should be unbreakable. 7.
Bring at least 2 labeled diapers and a change of clothes if your child is
not fully potty trained. 8.
No medicines can be administered by a teacher or any volunteer at any
time. This includes ointments,
peroxide, alcohol, etc. 9.
Do not bring a child to the preschool/children’s area when any of the
following symptoms exist: fever
within the past 24 hours, vomiting, diarrhea, and any symptom of a usual
childhood disease such as chicken pox, measles, pink eye, ringworm, impetigo,
sore throat, croup, or discolored discharge form the nose or eyes. 10.
All parents of children birth – Age 3 are expected to participate in
our Worship Care ministry. This
ministry is a cooperative effort and functions best if everyone assumes their
responsibility. 11.
Parents should be prompt in picking up their child after a service or
event has ended. It is upsetting
for a child to remain after other children have left and it delays teachers from
their other responsibilities. Leaders, Teachers & Caregivers1.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled time of service begins.
This allows for smoother transitions, opportunitiy to share instructions,
and allows time for departing teachers to get to the next service on time. 2.
Greet parents at the door and get instructions for the child’s care. 3.
Give arriving parents a security card found near the door.
Follow designated security system for each child in your class at all
times. No child is to be released
from any classroom with out the presentation of a security card by the parent or
guardian (birth through Age 3). 4.
Children in PreK through Grade 6 should be dismissed to parents at the
classroom door. 5.
There should be two adults workers in each classroom at all times. 6.
All volunteer workers should be regular attenders of Mission Baptist
Church before serving in any preschool/children ministry. 7.
Pre-plan and teach age appropriate curriculum as provided. 8.
Bandaids are provided in each classroom for small scrapes. 9.
Always use gloves when changing a diaper or if in contact with blood or
other body fluids. Wrap diaper in
wax paper and place in plastic bags before disposing in trash cans. 10.
Remove any soiled bed linens and place in dirty clothes hamper. Return any tables, chairs, toys, resource items, etc. to
their original location. Straighten
room so it is ready for next session. 11.
If you cannot carry out your teaching responsibility for Worship Care
please arrange to switch with another volunteer on the Worship Care rotation
list and notify the appropriate coordinator.
12.
Sunday School teachers should contact their substitutes, provide
substitute teacher with teaching materials, and class schedule. 13.
Minimum age requirement for preschool workers:
14.
No hot beverages are allowed in the preschool or children areas, even those
with a lid.
