About the Shelter

Mission provides volunteers to serve at the Concord Night Shelter through out the year.  It is located at the Salvation Army, 216 Patterson Street in Concord.  The shelter is open 365 days per year and is operated by the Cooperative Christian Ministry.  All guest are provided a comfortable place to spend the night, dinner, breakfast and laundry services. 

Check in Volunteer Duties
Volunteers will work from 7:00pm till 11:00pm Sunday through Thursday.  On Friday and Saturday night volunteers will stay from 7:00pm till 6:30am.

Volunteers Will:

  • Log all guest in the register
  • Use a metal detector for scanning each resident for prohibited articles and will place those articles in storage.
  • Volunteers will supervise thee outside smoke-breaks.  Times are posted.
  • Lights Out is at 10:00pm and entrance door is locked for guests.
  • Any exceptions for late arrival will be defined by a staff person prior to his/her leaving for the evening.

Meal Volunteer Duties

  • Volunteers will arrive at 7:30pm with a prepared meal, and begin to serve at 7:45pm.  (Check with your coordinator for the current guest count so you will know how much food to prepare.
  • The kitchen closes at 9:00pm.
  • Overnight volunteers (Friday & Saturday) will serve a light breakfast.
  • Meal providers will need to bring 2 gallons of 2% milk.
  • Tableware, coffee and iced tea are provided.

Monday

Lasagna, Green Beans or toss salad, & Dessert

Tuesday

Chili, Cole Slaw or any other side salad, Dessert

Wednesday

Beef  Stew, Vegetable, & Dessert

Thursday

Chicken Casserole, Vegetable, & Dessert

Friday

Hot Dogs/Hamburgers, Fries or Chips, Fruit, & Dessert

Saturday

Pasta Dish, Salad, Dressing, & Dessert
